To become more rounded, one must travel!
With the world becoming more globalized it’s important to expose students to the prospects of working internationally or becoming familiarized with international relations. Since work has increasingly become digitized it is easy to begin to tap into what international relations are, but nothing prepares one more than stepping into their country of interest and experiencing globalization first hand.
I had the opportunity to travel to South Korea for one month to study broadcast journalism. While there I was introduced to many new cultural aspects ranging from the people all the way to all the food. I was also able to travel to Busan which rests at the southern most tip of South Korea, and shockingly the culture is different there than from Seoul. It was a very eye opening experience and to see the difference in work ethic and to even learn about working as a foreigner in Korea was amazing. I took home with me a new respect for those who work one on one internationally and it has strengthened my desire to work in a different country.
